At Sandalwood restaurant we also offer the opportunity to learn how to create authentic Thai dishes so that you can enjoy the flavours of your trip when you return home.
Courses are available for complete beginners, as well as those who are already familiar with Thai cookery and require advanced level training. The classes can be taken on a one-on-one basis or in small groups of up to four persons.
Every student will have the chance to choose what they want to cook (so you can create your favourite dish from your stay). And the lessons even start with a trip to the local market accompanied by our chef who will show you how to pick the best herbs and spices available in Thailand.
You will also be shown alternative ingredients to use in Thai dishes that will be more readily available in your supermarket when you return home.
When you return to the restaurant you will have the chance to prepare a meal using the fresh market ingredients. Why not try your hand at red, green or yellow curry dishes, pad thai, soups and coconut based dishes. Alternatively you can cook up some fresh local seafood, purchased daily, including giant prawns and deep sea fish.
Papaya and mango salads make a refreshing accompaniment to your home cooked banquet and for the sweet toothed why not try making one of Thailand's mouth watering desserts.
We have also created a special course for couples who want to learn how to prepare the ultimate romantic Thai meal. Even with one-on-one tuition, a trip to the local market and a final four course meal, it might cost less than a meal for one at your local Thai restaurant at home!
Another speciality of Thai cuisine is the use of ornate carved fruit and vegetables. Learn how to create your own artistic designs in our 'carving fruit and vegetables classes'. With just two to three lessons (each around two hours long) you will be amazed at the intricate designs you will be able to achieve.
